Sam did not have a vehicle for the weekend and coming week so it was Bike Week! He had to fix an old bike that was left behind by another missionary since he did not purchase a bike when he went out on his mission. When originally called to Jamaica, he was told that he was on a walking mission, no bike, no vehicle. North Carolina has been very different.
The next Monday for P-Day, Sam wrote this:
"It was especially
interesting when halfway through our day my comps bike broke on
Saturday. We were biking to our different appointments and as we were
pulling up to one, his right pedal fell off. The threading where the
pedal attaches is stripped so we couldn't put it back
in. We were a 30 minute bike ride away from home and still had 2 more
appointments that morning. We ended up walking to the next appointment
and canceled the last one. It was a fun little twist of events. Being on
bikes honestly makes me feel like and actual
missionary. It just feels different when you ride a bike with a white
shirt and a tie."
